China's Wine Import Volume & Value Surged from Jan. to May 2024

2024年1-5月进口葡萄酒量、额齐涨

据中商产业研究院最近数据,今年1-5月,我国葡萄酒的进口量、额每月均有大幅增长,3月份的进口额更是较1-2月大涨61.8%。而在此之前,我国的葡萄酒进口量、额已连续多年呈下降趋势。


China's wine import volume and value have been on a downward trend for years. However, according to the latest data of the China Business Industry Research Institute, from January to May 2024, China's wine import volume and value have increased significantly every month. The import volume in March even increased by 61.8% compared with January-February 2024!


春节过后的3-5月通常为葡萄酒的销售淡季,为何进口数据会异常攀升?有来自中国福建的进口商表示主要受两个因素影响,一个是澳大利亚葡萄酒热度在攀升,进口商的采购热情比较高;二是由于受红海事件影响,航运周期延长,法国、德国等欧洲国家一季度的订单,在二季度集中到货。至于中国的葡萄酒消费是否在回暖,还有待市场的进一步验证。


Normally, March to May is the off-season for wine sales in China, so why is there a rise in import data? We heard from one anonymous importer from Fujian, China who said that it was mainly because of two reasons: One is that the popularity of Australian wine is rising, and importers are more enthusiastic about purchasing; the other is that due to the Red Sea crisis, the shipping cycle has been extended, and orders from European countries such as France and Germany in the first quarter have been concentrated in the second quarter.


As to whether China's wine market is rebounding, it remains to be further verified by the market.
